Temperature and Sleep

Do you struggle to get to sleep or find yourself waking up too hot or too cold? Some people need to warm up and then cool down to fall asleep. This is the principle underlying the long-held method of a warm bath before bedtime to help you sleep which is counterintuitive in its mechanism not so much about the heating effect but rather the dilation of surface blood vessels that allows you to radiate heat faster cool your core rapidly which has been shown to induce 10 to 15 percent more deep NREM sleep in healthy adults.

Well I certainly struggle with temperature control at night so I was excited to talk to Todd Youngblood (@ChiliPad) the Founder and CEO of Kryo at the Sleepshow to talk about their product the Chilipad (as featured on Tim Ferris top 5 products  for better sleep), and the newer version of the product the “Ooler” which brings some new features all night control of temperature of your bed including scheduling and variable temperature programming through the night

As Todd puts it:

Allowing you to select any temperature at any time to help you sleep
