The Incrementalist Graphic Craig Joseph

As I did last month I am talking to Craig Joseph, MD (@CraigJoseph) Chief Medical Officer at Avaap. We discussed a recent Wall Street Journal Article: Drugmakers Turn to Data Mining to Avoid
Expensive, Lengthy Drug Trials
. We have seen this in th update to the Framingham Heart Study, which if all goes to plan, the UCSF study (dubbed Health eHeart) will be the broadest such study ever completed. The overall concept was covered in an article in Wired some time back  End of Theory: The Data Deluge Makes the Scientific Method Obsolete.

We discuss the article: HHS’ new health IT rule would hurt Epic and Wisconsin’s economy by Tommy Thompson that sounded like an appeal to stop data sharing in healthcare. Listen in to hear a different perspective on this opinion piece that appears to suggest data blocking.

And we review Stanford’s “Data Driven Physician” report which suggests in the DigitalHealth world that 1 in 2 doctors are getting educated and prepared in their education (for the record I believe we are and will continue to be woefully unprepared as I said here)

Listen live at 4:00 AM, 12:00 Noon or 8:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday for the next week at HealthcareNOW Radio. After that, you can listen on demand (See podcast information below.) Join the conversation on Twitter at #TheIncrementalist.
